Bacon, Cheddar, and Chive Scones

Yummy, tender, delicious! They’ll make your mouth water just thinking about them! And as a bonus, they are much less messy than a traditional biscuit sandwich!



1 1/2 pounds bacon, cooked and crumbled

2 cups (8 ounces) sharp cheddar cheese, grated

1/8 cup chopped fresh chives

3 cups all purpose flour

4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, grated

2 cups buttermilk


  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Cook bacon, drain, crumble and set aside.
  4. Grate cheddar cheese. Set aside
  5. Chop chives and set aside.
  6. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
  7. Grate butter into flour. Stir gently.
  8. Add bacon, cheddar, and chives. Mix gently and thoroughly.
  9. Add buttermilk.
  10. Mix only to wet dry ingredients. DO NOT KNEAD!
  11. Divide dough in half.
  12. Take half of dough and form it into a ball.
  13. Place on lightly floured surface.
  14. Gently pat out into a circle.
  15. Cut into 8 wedges.
  16. Repeat with other half of dough.
  17. Place on prepared baking sheet.
  18. Bake for about 15-18 minutes, until light brown.
  19. Serve and enjoy!
