BBQ Chicken Pizza with Sourdough Crust

Easy BBQ Chicken Pizza. Homemade sourdough pizza dough topped with barbecue sauce, grilled chicken, three kinds of cheese, sliced red onions, and, of course, applewood smoked bacon! The secret behind this delicious pizza? Baking it on a hot stone at a high temperature until the pizza crust browns and becomes perfectly crisp, while the cheese gets melty and just a little brown to give it that extra bit of deliciousness. As soon as this pizza comes out of the oven, be sure to finish it with chopped cilantro for a bright POP of flavor! Trust me, every bite of this pizza is smokey, just a touch spicy, delicious, and will always leave you wanting more. The perfect summertime dinner!

About The Recipe

Making pizza is pretty much a regular thing in our house. It’s been at least a weekly dinner for us for as long as I can remember! You can do pretty much anything and everything with a pizza crust and it’s always SO much fun. My mom and I often try to out-throw each other with pizza crusts. Though, neither of us are very good at it!

So, with the weather getting hotter, we knew it was time to share one of our favorite pizza recipes…Barbecue “BBQ” Chicken!

This is my brother, Ian’s, hands down favorite pizza. He loves all things barbecue and, when summer starts, it’s one of the first thing he asks for!

It’s simple to make, but packed FULL of flavor. From the smokey spiciness of the barbecue sauce (we like Memphis style!), to the tender chicken and saltiness of the applewood smoked bacon, followed by the sweetness of red onions and gooey-melty cheese! Every bite always leaves you wanting more.

It’s honestly something we have been making for YEARS, but the recipe has definitely evolved into something that I consider one of our best pizza’s to-date. Each layer on this pizza brings a unique flavor that’s reminiscent of your favorite bbq pizza, but made EVEN better!
