This version of Beef and Broccoli has quickly become one of my favorites! It’s not traditional but sometimes it can be a little sweet for me and I really just wanted to taste the simple but amazing flavors that beef and broccoli have on their own!
This recipe was inspired after I had a beef and broccoli dish with one of my friends but it was way too sweet! I thought maybe I had ordered dessert by accident. I decided then I would make my own without all the sugars.
Annnd here we are! No honey, no sugar, no ginger (told you it wasn’t traditional!). I’m really happy with the lightness and simplicity of this recipe. My only complaint? It doesn’t reheat well.
I’m not a hug fan of reheated meat in the beginning but since there isn’t a true sauce, there’s nothing to keep this beef tender and juicy. So, I recommend when you make this, make enough to feed you or your family but really no more. I like to make this when I have leftovers of rice, steak, and a small broccoli floret in the back of the fridge. It’s easy, quick, and yummy!
What’s in beef and broccoli?
Well, in this recipe it is really simplified. It’s beef, broccoli, soy, garlic, pepper, and rice! I like to do simple recipes because sometimes I don’t have time to cook an entire meal or I’m in the middle of homework and suddenly realize I’m starving (I’m sure we’ve all been there)!
How do I make beef and broccoli?
With total ease! All you need to do is chop your broccoli and your steak. Then add your steak to a lightly oiled pan and cook it! I like my steak around a medium cook but I won’t turn down one that’s well done. This recipe is for well done.
After about 8 minutes or so, your beef should be a nice brown and starting to form a slight crust. Now is when to add everything else! Toss in your soy, garlic, and broccoli. Cook for another 3 or 5 minutes and serve over rice!
This recipe comes together so fast and (not gonna lie) it makes for a perfect dish when you just want some asian food and don’t wanna leave the house. Trust me, I’ve been there many times.
Is beef and broccoli healthy?
Extremely! Since there is no sugars in this recipe, you have a really well rounded meal. If you’re feeling a little conscious still, you can cut back the soy to 2 tablespoons and it’ll taste just as good but will have less sodium.
