Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake

Tender, buttery, moist. This coffee cake is sheer perfection!




1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped

1 Tablespoon all purpose flour

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon salt


2 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 cup sugar

4 eggs

1 cup sour cream

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract


1 cup confectioners sugar, sifted

2 Tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla



  1. Chop pecans in food processor (or chop finely by hand).
  2. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, and salt. Mix well.



  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
  3. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Set aside.
  4. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  6. Reduce speed to low and add flour mixture alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  7. Stir in vanilla.



  1. Spoon half of cake batter into prepared pan.
  2. Top with 2/3 of streusel mix.
  3. Spread other half of cake batter on top.
  4. Sprinkle with remaining 1/3 of streusel mix.
  5. Bake for approximately 45 – 55 minutes until cake tests done.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.


  1. Mix sifted confectioners sugar, milk, and vanilla in small bowl until smooth.
  2. Drizzle onto cooled cake.
