Expert Tips
- When husking the tomatillos, keep them under cold running water to avoid getting your hands sticky.
- Also, if peeling garlic, you can pop the garlic with the flat side of your knife and run it under cold water to keep the paper from sticking to you.
- You don’t need to wait for the tomatillo’s to cool to core them, but letting them cool is not only easier, but much safer, as the freshly boiled tomatillo’s will be very hot and may burn you.
- If you would like a spicier sauce, do not core the jalapeño peppers and serrano peppers. If you don’t like really spicy, you can core the peppers.
- This recipe is naturally gluten-free and vegan.
- Coring the tomatillos can be a little messy, so make sure to do it over your blender or over a bowl.
- If you would like a little chunkier sauce, blend it less.
