Admittedly, Valentine’s is not my favorite holiday. BUT it is a great excuse to create, cook, and eat all things chocolate! (Like I really need an excuse!)
Since Valentine’s is tomorrow, we thought we’d have some fun with our Dark Chocolate Brownie recipe. As I mentioned in my notes, I made the brownie recipe twice, so we had plenty of material to work with.
We added in our recipes for Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Ganache. Due to time constraints (Valentine’s is tomorrow), we didn’t get to do everything we wanted. But that gives us something to look forward to for next year!
All three of the above mentioned recipes – the brownies, the ice cream, and the ganache – can all be whipped up today (if you haven’t made them already) and put together tomorrow into totally new creations.
Here are some of the ideas we have had!
The first is simply cutting the brownies into hearts. They would be perfect to tuck into your kids’ lunch boxes for Valentine’s. (It’s guaranteed to bring a smile to their faces.) If you’re feeling a little fancier, you could drizzle them with the ganache.
The second is a classic brownie sundae. Very simple. But with all the ingredients homemade, it becomes special (and tastes so much better!) I have to warn you though. These sundaes are highly addictive! Caylie and I both ate until we cleaned the plates! (Hey, somebody has to eat all this food.)
The third dessert we put together is a triple chocolate trifle. It’s crumbled up brownie and layered with semi-sweet chocolate ganache and white chocolate ganache, but it’s a hit in our neighborhood!
