The Best Mashed Potatoes

Creamy, fluffy, a hint of sweetness from the butter and cream, these really are the BEST Mashed Potatoes.



4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 stick unsalted butter

3/4 cup heavy cream

Salt and pepper, to taste


  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain well.
  2. Return boiler to stove. 
  3. Over low heat, melt butter.
  4. When butter is melted, add cream.
  5. Using a ricer, add potatoes to cream and butter mixture.
  6. Stir. 
  7. Season to taste.
